KC Shepherd's Center
Provides programs, leadership and advocacy to help both active and homebound older adults live healthy, engaged and independent lives. Whether you’re looking for opportunities for yourself, a loved one, a neighbor, a friend, or a client, we’re here to help you connect with the programs and resources you need.
Our programs promote healthier aging by:
Increasing Social Connections and Activity
Research shows a strong correlation between social interaction and well-being among older adults. Staying social and maintaining relationships can help older adults maintain physical and emotional health, cognitive function, and boost confidence levels.
Creating opportunities for purposeful living
Studies show that aging with purpose is associated with longer life and vitality, productivity, and lower rates of cognitive incapacity, stroke and heart disease.
Reducing Food Insecurity
Food insecurity is a serious problem for many older adults. In Kansas City 1 in 12 seniors don't have enough food to live a healthy lifestyle. KCSC provides Meals on Wheels to more than 250 seniors each week.
