“After moving to Kansas City, reaching out through donating time became not only a life saver but a path to growing into this wonderful city’s generous spirit. Each of my volunteer activities has led to collaborations with others to enrich not only an immediate need but to inspire others to service as well.”

Emily is active in a wide range of volunteer activities at her church, First Lutheran, from chancel choir and substitute organist/choir director to volunteer coordinator of senior activities to serving on the church council. She also has served on the Hollis Center Board of Directors (a retreat center in Bonner Springs) and done volunteer work with Metro Lutheran Ministry. Her love of music extends to serving as a member of the Symphony League, the board of Missouri Citizens for the Arts and member of Jazz Friends. She also has been on the board of the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, a volunteer for Harvesters and Delta Gamma Alumnae, and was a teaching assistant in math classes at the Women’s Employment Network.
