Jane

Jane McClain is a passionate educator and historian. It does not take long in talking with Jane to know her passion is women’s equality and achievement. She created the Wall of Women’s Achievement. This 12-panel wall starts in 1900 and covers the struggle of the suffrage movement and the next 100 years since women won the right to vote. For 13 years, Jane volunteered in visitor services at the Nelson Atkins Museum another place for her to share her love of history. Jane is active in the League of Women Voters and with the American Association of University Women (AAUW) of Missouri. With the AAUW of Missouri she has chaired committees and as is currently co-chair for the Thorpe Menn Literary Prize reading committee, reviewing fiction authors from the local area. Jane is proud to be a part of Women’s Equality Week where she developed the Equality and Race program. She believes that when women gain equality it will help all races gain equality.
