Jodi Dinkins is a hands on advocate. First as a special education teacher for 41 years and for 21 years as a Casa volunteer, advocating for children going through the court system under no fault of their own. It seems only fitting that Jodi also spent several years as a volunteer with the Johnson County Victims Assistance Unit where she helped victims through the court system. With all of this experience, Jodi knows how to make systems work to accomplish a goal. She also knows no stranger and leaves the people she meets empowered that they can accomplish any task they wish, it is all in how you approach the issue. Jodi currently gives her time to the Johnson County Interfaith Network, a nonprofit that works with local congregations to host homeless families while they work toward getting back on their feet. Jodi recruits and trains volunteers and worked in the office before COVID. When asked what inspires Jodi, she humbly says she has been given so much in her life that she wants go give back. She is also a people person and enjoys meeting all kinds of people. Jodi’s nominator chose Sunshine as the one word to describe her and it is clear that Jodi is the sunshine for others as they go through lifes storms.
