Sandy

Eeds

73, Energetic

With a career in architecture (first in New Mexico and then in Kansas City) designing ballparks and convention centers nationally and internationally Sandy retired in 2013 with many projects ahead of him that would utilize his substantial interests and wealth of talents. He has been involved in his neighborhood association and board, and is on the advisory board to the Center for Neighborhoods at UMKC. He has enjoyed participating in and volunteering with the Waldo Brookside Rotary Club. A project of special interest since 2014 is Literacy KC where he not only was on the board for four years and has been a tutor to adults, but he also helped design the program's current space at 31st & Troost. When he went seeking a way to be more involved in political action on the Missouri side, he was invited to join the League of Women Voters. Currently he is President of the board. He has managed strengthening the website, program development, and the creation of numerous partnerships with Jobs with Justice, the Board of Elections, and Kansas League of Women Voters. He brought the showing of the voter suppression documentary "Rigged" to educate a large audience on how our U.S. voting process has been manipulated to exclude certain groups from the voting process. This community-engaged man will likely have his fingers in significant projects for years to come!
