From teacher to businesswoman to Mom, Nana and a lifetime of giving back, Gayle Price Krigel is enormously grateful for the amazing people she has met along the way, appreciative of the diverse group of friends she has gathered and proud of the impact she has made in the city she loves. 2020 is a milestone year for Gayle, celebrating both her 70th birthday 45 years of marriage to Bruce. When they married, they started a wholesale distribution business where they worked side-by-side for almost 25 years, while raising three incredible children. When Bruce and Gayle sold the business in 1999, Gayle had the opportunity to make volunteering her next career and over the last 20 years, she has chaired over 100 events and raised millions of dollars for Kansas City's nonprofit community. With mentors like Mamie Currie Hughes, Shirley Helzberg and Bunni Copaken, she has shared her knowledge and skills with organizations like the AdHoc Group Against Crime, the Chalk and Walk Festival, High Aspirations, the Kansas City Zoo, The Urban League, the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care, Kansas City Actors Theatre, the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, where she served as president, and so many more. Gayle would rather be in the background as an event producer and collaborator than out front. In these times of COVID, she has chaired several community and political fundraisers over ZOOM and she and Bruce are filling their Little Library on the corner of their property, with nonperishable food along with books for children and adults alike.
