Amazing/Energetic

Deborah Shouse and Ron Zoglin are dementia advocates, authors, presenters, laughter yoga facilitators, and former family care partners. They are co-founders of Dementia Friendly KC. Through sharing their message of finding creativity and hope in the dementia journey, Deborah and Ron have connected with care partners from around the world. They have presented internationally in countries such as Turkey, Italy, and India, and across the U.S. for dementia symposiums, care partner conferences, and spiritual centers.

Deborah is also a writer, editor and creativity catalyst. She has an MBA but uses it only in emergencies. She is the author of Love in the Land of Dementia: Finding Hope in the Caregivers’ Journey and Connecting in the Land of Dementia: Creative Activities to Explore Together. Her writing has appeared in a variety of publications and she’s been included in more than five-dozen Chicken Soup books.
Ron Zoglin is a professional storyteller who has performed for businesses, universities, and national and international conferences. Ron is the voice on the audiotapes, Even Mystics have Bills to Pay and The Adventures of the Little Green Dragon.

Deborah and Ron work with the Kansas City Public Library, Plaza Branch, and other community partners. Together, their coalition designed two monthly programs for people living with dementia and their care partners, KC Memory Cafe and Movies & Memories. For the Memory Cafe, arts partners, such as the Kansas City Symphony and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, produce imaginative and engaging programming. Ron has documented these events on the YouTube channel, “Dementia Journey.”
This creative couple who are so passionate about dementia and what CAN be done have a secret for positive aging: “Pursing a purpose that's greater than yourself, staying curious, and loving to listen.” Whatever they do, they “have fun doing it.” People who are living with dementia and their care partners may just have a little more positivity in their lives thanks to Deborah and Ron
