Whether he is mentoring at-risk high school students, hosting birthday parties or calling on elderly shut-ins, Frank Bradley is never the most important person in the room. Always self-deprecating, he works hard to put others in the limelight. A successful businessman, Frank has spents time sharing his expertise with students in the print shop at DeLaSalle High School. He did it, not by pontificating, but by taking them out to the real world and setting them up to pitch their services to actual companies. At Operation Breakthrough, Frank Bradley is known as “Mr. Frank, The Birthday Man.” For over 15 years, Frank has put on weekly parties for preschoolers at Operation Breakthrough. Frank wants to be certain that every child gets to blow out candles and receive a gift during their birthday week. During the pandemic Frank has supplied special treats to elderly nuns who have not been able to leave their house. Almost every week he drives up to the fence around their locked-down senior community and hands something special through the bars – a bouquet of flowers, a cherry pie, little cloth satchels with cash hidden inside, chips and salsa, a new bath robe. Never the same thing twice! Before the nuns’ caregiver can even thank him, Frank is walking back to his car. If anyone tries to praise his efforts, he deflects their words, shifting the focus right back to others. His wife, Judy, sums up Frank by saying, “He never misses an opportunity to be kind.”
