Rosemary

Quiet Strength is a perfect descriptor for Rosemary Moran. Growing up in a rural area near Manhattan, Kansas she developed an independent spirit that has carried her through her entire career in the Math and Physics department of the Midwest Research Institute. Early on, Dr. Kimball, president of MRI, encouraged Rosemary to take part in the newly created Kansas City Science Fair for high schools students in the area. Fifty-three years later, she is still judging the Science Fair each year, inspiring and encouraging students to continue their work. Upon retirement from MRI in 2012, she started tutoring English as a second language at Literacy KC as a volunteer. Her latest students, two sisters from Africa checked on her recently to make sure she is doing okay through the Covid-19 pandemic. She also loves volunteering at the Redemptorist Care Center in their food pantry to assist those in need in the area. 
Rosemary has been a member of Soroptimist International for 35 years, holding many positions on the board and serving on the Soroptimist Kansas City Foundation. She is always generous with her time and willing to participate in community service activities in way she can. Rosemary never draws attention to herself, she just does. Her key to staying active is to keep getting together with people through social activity. She feels strongly that working with all types of personalities has made her a better person.
