Daniel
Schlozman

After spending 34 years as a practicing physician, Dr. Schlozman’s (Dr. Dan) “next chapter” includes serving in a variety of volunteer positions. These include presentations about pulmonary disease to seniors throughout the community, including KC Shepherd’s Center; being a guide and volunteer at The National WWI Museum and Memorial; and, an active participant of a retired physician’s organization (RPO). “As a result of my involvement with the RPO, I’ve induced several retired physicians to join as it provides a forum to continue our professional affiliation and provide service to the community,” he states. An accomplishment Dr. Dan is proud of was practicing pulmonary medicine for 18 months in a free clinic serving Johnson County. For the past 30 years Dr. Dan has grown orchids and loves mentoring new members of the Orchid Society and encourages anyone interested in growing orchids to contact him to learn the “ins and outs” of orchid culture. For his community of friends outside of orchid growing, he runs a mini-intensive care unit in his greenhouse. Dr. Dan agrees with his branding of being diligent as when he is given a task, he remains focused until it has been completed. He believes the key to staying active and engaged is to pursue activities that are of interest to him. Contributing to the ongoing success of The National WWI Museum and Memorial gives Dr. Dan meaning and purpose.
