Book Club: KCSC Page Flippers
KC Shepherd’s Center is starting a new Book Club, called the KCSC Page Flippers. We are excited to read and explore 4 books together this year, all written by past 70 over 70 Honorees.
At the end of each quarter, we will offer a zoom or an in person discussion with the author of each book. We are asking those of you who choose to join us on this reading journey to tell us what YOUR preference when you register and we will go with what the majority wants. View the four authors below!
To register, follow the link below or, call Terri Goddard, Director of Development, at 816-293-9614.

SuEllen Fried, 2018 70 Over 70 Honoree
Siblings, Bullying, Betrayal and Bonding Across the Lifespan
Siblings: Bullying, Betrayal and Bonding Across the Lifespan Sibling relationships are one of the longest bonds we will experience. Whether it’s a profound, irreplaceable connection or one fraught with hurt and pain, it can significantly affect us over the course of our lifetime. Sibling bullying has been around since the beginning of time – think Cain and Abel – but this highly toxic subject has never received the attention it deserved, like the more common peer bullying that exists in schools. SuEllen Fried’s fifth and latest book on bullying, Siblings: Bullying, Betrayal and Bonding Over the Lifespan, evolved from her 25 years of interaction with students in 37 states.

A Proven Experiment: The Shepherd's Center Story
Join us on this documented journey as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Kansas City Shepherd’s Center. The revered founder of the KC Shepherd’s Center, Dr. Elbert C. Cole, created a legacy of ministry by, for, and with older adults that remains with us today. This book documents the 50-year history and offers a deeper look into the future leadership qualities and models needed to reach older generations for decades to come.
The Shepherd’s Center, “A Proven Experiment,” provides evidence of the impact on quality of life for older adults when we meet and exceed their vital personal, social, and spiritual needs. Through this book, we celebrate the commitment to lifelong learning, compassionate care, and volunteer service opportunities demonstrated through the years at Kansas City Shepherd’s Center. We remember, recognize, and realize lessons learned from the past and present that propel us into the future!
